Dessert Gallery is a beloved Houston classic that dates back to 1995. This shop on Kirby Drive — in the same center as restaurant favorite Kata Robata — has just about anything you can think of. From cakes and cookies to brownies and everything in-between.
One favorite is Dessert Gallery’s old fashioned diner cake, made up of a yellow base cake slathered in thick chocolate buttercream. The variety of options available sticks out about this Houston dessert shop.
Crave Cupcakes
This is the go-to spot for many Houston cupcake fans. From traditional flavors to regularly added seasonal options that are innovative and fun, you can find a cupcake for any day or mood at one of Crave’s two Houston area locations. A popular classic favorite is the strawberry flavor, with the wedding cake and hummingbird cupcakes also earning raves.

Tiny's Milk and Cookies
Cookies is in Tiny’s name for a reason. Its chocolate chip cookies would earn it a place among Houston’s Best Dessert Shops alone. But don’t sleep on its lesser known sprinkle cookies and lemon crinkle cookies and ice cream.
Fresh bread options, including baguettes and sourdoughs, add more substance to the mix.

Croissant-Brioche.
This bakery brings warm pastries and a European charm to Houston’s Rice Village. Best known for its almond croissants and rich coffees served in a warm atmosphere, Croissant is truly a neighborhood cafe with dessert magic.
La Kings Confectionery
La Kings is in Galveston rather than Houston, but its dessert power makes it a worthy addition to any Best Dessert Shops list. This traditional confectionery has been open since the 1970s and the space is modeled after a 1920s era soda parlor.
La Kings is best known for its saltwater taffy, which is made with the same techniques and machinery as it was back in the beginning. This dessert mecca also serves everything sweet under the sun, including ice cream, milkshakes and a wide variety of chocolate treats and truffles.
Fluff Bake Bar
Run by Rebecca Masson, affectionately known as The Sugar Fairy, Fluff Bake Bar is an award-winning bakery in The Heights that’s been satisfying dessert lovers since 2011. Masson brings French pastry training background to the Houston dessert scene, making treats that are as decadent as they are fun and creative.
Many of the choices have fun names in keeping with the whimsical atmosphere of the place. Don’t miss the Veruca Salt Cake and the Unicorn Bait cookies.
