What: A private gathering toasting artist Marilyn Minter and her just-opened retrospective at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.
Where: Lucinda and Javier Loya‘s glamorous abode.
Who: Woman of the evening Marilyn Minter; celebrants CAMH director Bill Arning and museum board chair Bill Goldberg; Adam Lerner, director of Denver Museum of Contemporary Art (exhibition co-organizer); collectors Barbara and Michael Gamson; gallerist Barbara Davis; Tenenbaum & Co.’s Tony Bradfield and Kevin Black; R.E.M.‘s Michael Stipe; Minter devotees/fellow artists Ryan McGinley, Laurie Simmons, and Mary Heilmann; and in from L.A. Regen Project‘s director Lindsay Charlwood, who represents Minter on the West coast.
PC Moment: Guests arrived as the invitation requested — in “Pretty/Dirty” attire — and were greeted at the door by models dressed in slinky gold and silver catsuits with makeup awry, all in homage to the artist headliner, the divine Miz Minter. Visible Changes makeup mistress Myrna Hermida transformed partygoers via an adroit application of glitter embellishments worthy of a Minter painting.
