Art World Heavy Hitters Turn Out in Force to Celebrate the Silver Cup
$1.5 Million in Grants and Counting

Art world heavy hitters turned out in force at the Hilton Anatole for the annual Silver Cup Award Luncheon, celebrating The Arts Community Alliance’s 50th anniversary and honoring two of the city’s leading arts advocates — philanthropist and collector Nancy Nasher and Walter Elcock, retired board chairman and current trustee of the Dallas Museum of Art.
Chaired by Nancy Carlson and Lynn McBee, the luncheon saw a heady contingent that included Nasher Sculpture Center chief curator Jed Morse, TITAS executive director Charles Santos, Dallas Children’s Theater co-founder/artistic director Robyn Flatt, Bloomberg Associates principal and cultural assets manager Kate Levin, and Kitchen Dog Theater’s Tina Parker, Christie Vela and Tim Johnson.
TACA’s new director Wolford McCue, who took over at the first of the year, and TACA board chair Donna Wilhelm organized the luncheon program that included Lee Cullum as emcee and remarks from Elaine Agather, Dallas chair of JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Ginger Reeder, Neiman Marcus Group corporate communications veep.
“TACA has been a catalyst for innovation, collaboration, and engagement,” enthused Wilhelm. “This year the organization has presented a total of $1.5 million in grants to small, medium and large arts organizations.” Her comments prompted fervent applause from patrons.
The luncheon throng included TACA’s 50th Anniversary chair Wanda Gierhart, Sarah Warnecke, Pete Chilian, Jay Clingman, Anne Motsenbocker, Michelle Thomas, Jeff Byron, Georgia Christensen, Kevin Hurst, Jennifer Lassiter, Marjon Henderson, Malcolm Reuben, Karen and Ken Travis, Stuart Bumpas, Maria May, Melinda Obenchain, Jan Baldwin, Sherry Owens, Patricia Meadows, Jennifer Chandler, and Janet Ryan and 2016 Silver Cup Award recipients Rebecca Enloe Fletcher and James E. Wiley Jr.
