PC Moment: The joyous and instructive relationships between the “Bigs” and the “Littles” was celebrated throughout the night, which saw a number of Big Brothers and Big Sisters escort their “Littles” to the party. Added value: the $350,000 raised.
Former Little Brother Darryl Blackburn served as emcee and Big Brother Cary Moorhead was recognized as the event’s Point of Light. He and his Little Brother, Joshua, partnered in 2015 and since that time have shared numerous life-changing experiences including afternoons go-carting, exploring museums and volunteering together in the community including helping demo houses following Harvey.
The evening, honoring philanthropist Margaret Alkek Williams, was chaired by Hannah and Cal McNair with support from the Houston Texans. In his remarks, Mayor Sylvester Turner brought home the importance of volunteering particularly on behalf of children.
