The 15th annual Chick Lit Luncheon, presented by Dr. Robert and Lara Tafel, took place on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Hilton Anatole. The annual event, which raises money for Community Partners of Dallas — an organization that supports abused and neglected children in the area — was postponed from its usual spring date due to Covid-19. This year, featured speaker and Academy award-winning actress Goldie Hawn was the star of the event.
Although she couldn’t be there in person, Goldie Hawn delighted guests of the luncheon through a virtual interview with NBC 5’s Laura Harris. She talked about her star-studded family (husband Kurt Russell, and kids Kate Hudson, Oliver Hudson, and Wyatt Russell), as well as what keeps her grounded. Given the literature-loving crowd, the actress also discussed her books (“10 Mindful Minutes” and “Goldie: A Lotus Grows in the Mud“) as well as the works she’s currently reading (lots of historical non-fiction). She also earned lots of laughs from luncheon guests just by being Goldie.
Chaired by Claire Emanuelson with Pat McEvoy as honorary chair and Hollee Hirzel and Erin Pope as underwriting co-chairs, the Chick Lit Luncheon was a success. One of the most memorable (and funniest) parts was when everyone held up their paper Goldie Hawn face cutouts for a photo.
