Dallas-Based Children’s Clothing Brand Bea Colette To Open a Cotswolds-Inspired Boutique at Highland Park Village — A PaperCity Exclusive

The Inside Scoop on the Interior Design of the Pop-Up Space and New Product Launches for Women

By //

In a PaperCity exclusive, Bea Colette founder Meghan Guffey revealed that the beloved Dallas-based European-inspired children’s clothing brand will open its first brick-and-mortar location soon at Highland Park Village.

Located next to MARKET, local fashion incubator, Bea Colette will showcase the 100 percent Italian cotton knits that earned the brand a cult-like following of discerning shoppers. It’ll open on October 3, with a grand opening celebration on October 7. The pop-up will be in place through mid-January.

Below, Guffey gives us the inside scoop on everything from the interior design of the space to the new products for women that they’re hoping to launch.

Give us a quick overview of how the Highland Park Village shop came to be! Has this been on your vision board for Bea Colette since the beginning?

Honestly, this has been on my vision board long before Bea Colette even existed. I’m not originally from Dallas, but my roots here run deep. After graduating from SMU, I moved to New York and spent a decade in advertising and brand partnerships. I met and married a Texas boy, and when COVID hit, we made our way back to Dallas and bought a house directly behind the Village.

On a long flight in July 2022 with no wifi, I wrote out a scrappy, bullet-pointed business plan for Bea Colette. The second bullet point read, “Dream scenario: Open a small boutique in Highland Park Village filled with a curation of exclusive brands and pieces for the discerning Dallas customer.” I’ve sent my fair share of emails to the Village leadership over the past three years, telling anyone who’d listen how much I wanted to be there.

When MARKET’s Chief Creative Officer Keenan Silverman texted me this past February asking if I was still interested in a space, I answered faster than I’ve ever answered a text in my life. It just so happened that I was walking out of a happy hour at Honor Bar at that exact moment, steps from where our pop-up will now open. Some things really do come full circle!

Now, I’m a mom of four, and the meaning behind this business has only deepened since I first wrote that plan. It’s no longer just about filling a gap in the market for elevated, European-inspired childrenswear for everyday. It’s about showing my own kids that if you want something badly enough and are willing to work for it, there’s no ceiling on what you can build.

Tell us about the interior of the store. What designer are you working with? What is your inspiration for the design? How do you hope the space feels?

We’re working with Canon & Dean on the design. The vision is rooted in English countryside chic — nostalgic femininity, character, charm, and rich textures. It’s a blend of my personal style and the Bea Colette brand that has a very classic, ageless feel.

I was also very intentional about not wanting it to feel like a nursery. This is a space designed for the woman shopping, while still feeling warm and welcoming for children. Our brand colors, evergreen, sage, and ivory, are woven throughout, alongside black-and-white photography and a gallery wall. I want it to feel like home — nostalgic, community-centric, and rooted in that Old World European design sensibility that’s always been at the heart of Bea Colette.

Will you have any products that are exclusive to the Dallas store?

Yes, we have a dedicated HPV-exclusive capsule under the BC label (think BC knit sets with custom HPV icon embroidery), along with a range of brands that are exclusive to us, such as Nicoletta Fanna, Lallie London, Mariella Ferrari, Pukatuka, Floss, Bebe Organic, Marie Puce, and Mipounet.

We’ll also have a beautifully curated edit of holiday gifts and tasteful toys available in-store to accommodate families in need of Mi Cocina wait-list time killers and other restaurant-appropriate activities to keep children occupied. We’ll offer custom holiday gift wrapping, fabulous giftables at all price points, and “Monogram Mondays” for same-day monogramming.

What sets Bea Colette apart from other children’s brands? What hole were you aiming to fill in the market?

The goal has always been simple: to reduce the stress of getting children dressed by offering a European-inspired, highly curated online destination built for discerning female shoppers who want complete outfits, an intuitive and modern user experience, and a seamless checkout.

Our own line is a perfect example of that philosophy in action. We saw a real void in the market for everyday elevated pieces that are both polished and practical. Because our sets are 100 percent Italian cotton, they’re breathable and versatile enough to wear year-round. They endure sweat, resist stains, and are genuinely machine washable and safe for sensitive skin — practically indestructible. All of our boy and girl knit styles coordinate, so you know siblings will look good together.

Tell us more about your plans to expand the women’s offerings.

To date, the Bea Colette collection has really been a children’s line with just two or three women’s styles mixed in here and there, but that’s about to change in a big way. This fall, our customers will see matching cable knit sets for women, a cable skirt, and what we’re calling the perfect knit top, all designed to mix and match, in the most gorgeous fall colorways. We’re also launching an A-line knit shift dress with coordinating cardigans. We just launched one of our knit tops this past week, and it’s already nearly sold out. We’re simply listening to our customers, and I’m also listening to myself. When I see a void in my closet and can’t fill it by looking at one of my go-to brands, I’m going to make it and pray that other ladies have the same void!

By this time next year, we’ll have close to 30 SKUs in women’s for the fall 2027 season. Everything is still 100% Italian cotton, made in family-run, generational factories in the knitwear capital of the world — no shortcuts, just genuinely elevated quality. Highland Park Village, sitting alongside Market’s incredible women’s fashion destination, felt like exactly the right place to grow this side of the brand.

Are you planning any special events or activations during the pop-up?

Beyond the grand opening celebration, we’re designing an experience worth returning to. We’ll have weekly activations bringing something new for guests to discover with every visit, from in-store embroidery to pop-up vendors (think heirloom photography sessions and pre-carriage ride treats), with more surprises along the way.

Is there anything else you want people to know about Bea Colette?

That we really care. Not just me, but every woman on our team. We care about mastering our craft and ensuring every customer is not just satisfied, but delighted. We hope to establish a true long-term relationship with our customers and make Bea Colette a “home” for them. Package got lost? We’ll send a replacement. A small hole in your garment? We’ll send a replacement and also a gift card for the inconvenience. Need family photo styling? We’ll put together an entire lookbook tailored to what we know of your style.

The customer service level we aim to provide is something that AI just can’t touch, and I can’t wait to bring that level of attention and personalization to our hometown community beyond the screen!
