What: Dallas Women’s Foundation 32nd Annual Luncheon
Where: Hilton Anatole
PC Moment: Who runs the world? Girls! At least that was the notion behind the 32nd Annual Dallas Women’s Foundation luncheon. The mission of improving the trajectory of young women into leadership roles is so important that 1,400 of North Texas business and community leaders joined the effort. Sending home the message was New York Times best-selling author and biochemist Dr. Hope Jahren. An advocate for female equality in STEM, her memoir Lab Girl, her blog and her op-ed pieces address the issues facing women in the scientific and mathematic fields.
Chaired by Shonn Brown and Lisa Singleton, the luncheon raised $86,000 and that’s before NexBank had contributed its dollar-for-dollar matching contribution. The funds will aid in the foundation’s programs aimed at unlocking resources to advance women’s economic security and leadership through research, grant-making and advocacy.
Further stimulating gray matter and inspiring guests were unique party favors — trading cards, sponsored by American Airlines, featuring stellar women leaders including scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematician.
Who: Foundation president and CEO Roslyn Dawson Thomson, foundation board chair Caren Lock, Lyda Hill, Suzanne Ahn, Nancy Ann and Ray Hunt, Dr. Carine Feyten, Nancy Ann Hunt, Lisa Simmons, Roslyn Dawson Thompson, Tricia Miller, Becky Bruder, Fay Lidji, Ellenore Knight Baker, Angela Crates, Shonn Brown, and Lisa Singleton.
