Glenn Beck Wins Angel Award at Emotional Mercury One Gala in Dallas

Night Celebrates Some Amazing Journeys

Mercury One gathered more than 500 supporters and beneficiaries, along with friends and leaders in the North Texas arts, social and business communities to celebrate their accomplishments over the past year at the M1 Ball at the Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas. This year was extra special thanks to Operation Underground Railroad which awarded the Bonhoeffer Angel Award to Glenn Beck.

Visibly moved, Beck said he was deeply humbled and noted he has the greatest honor to be able to speak every day with some of the greatest Americans who have ever lived. The conservative media personality bared his soul, speaking about being an alcoholic, then tearfully recalling his journey to where he is now, thanking supporters for believing in him.

The Angel Award is given to “someone with the vision and courage to act when others only talk, to dig in and listen to the whisperings of the spirit when others turn a deaf ear.”

The this fifth annual M1 Ball raised funds to keep the nonprofit running. Hosted by founders Tania and Glenn Beck, the evening started with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Guests were then seated in the ballroom for a special presentation. After a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by Lauren Fisher and invocation by Pastor Rafael Cruz, mistress of ceremonies Sara Gonzales from The Blaze welcomed Mercury One’s executive director Suzanne Bock Grishman to the podium.

Guests enjoyed a meal of sous vide short rib of beef with peppercorn “au poivre,” chive and Texas potato puree and local vegetables. While the crowd nibbled and enjoying the wine contributed by Rodney Strong, Grishman reminded everyone that their donations support the needs of those affected by natural disasters and sex trafficking prevention, Mercury One’s education program, and veterans going through Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Traumatic Brain Injury.

A group of friends singing “Amazing Grace” entered the ballroom as everyone stood in respect for the hymn and upcoming presentation. Then the Angel Award announcement was made.
