Houston Proud Real Estate Firm Celebrates 35 Years and $1.5 Billion in Annual Sales
The Remarkable Story of Greenwood King
By Shelby Hodge //
Editor’s note: With Greenwood King now in its 36th year, we look back at its milestone celebration, one of the most significant real estate parties before the coronavirus pandemic took hold in the United States last March.
By any standards, a 35th anniversary is worth crowing about. That is particularly so during the current topsy turvy real estate world where mergers and acquisitions seem to be the norm. So when a privately-held real estate company stands its ground and scores three and a half decades of success with the founders still in charge, it is an anniversary worth celebrating.
So it was that more than 300 friends, family and clients poured into Greenwood King‘s swank Upper Kirby headquarters to salute founders Julie Greenwood and Linda King and their team for the commendable milestone.
The duo put their talents together back in 1984, making a go of it when Houston was all but cratering from the oil bust and the subsequent economic downturn. From that start, the women have built their firm into a colossal that boasts 160 agents and 60 staff members, plus annual sales surpassing $1.5 billion. Greenwood King is one of the largest independently owned real estate firms in Houston with a focus on high-end properties.
In a good neighbor gesture, Greenwood King tapped Armandos to provide the Tex/Mex party fare. And as if the chatter among the enthused guests might ever subside, Divisi Strings provided the upbeat background music.
