What: Trees for Houston 24th annual Root Ball
Where: A private club near Memorial Park
PC Moment: Comedian and Best Friends Forever lead Jessica St. Clair entertained the gathering of more than 400 with her clever observations as emcee of the gathering held in an open air party tent.
Applause, applause for chairs Lynn and Win Campbell and Molly and Coert Voorhees, who led the evening to record proceeds of $432,000, which should go a long way in fulfilling Trees for Houston’s mission of planting, protecting and promoting trees throughout the area.
A special treat for guests, who feasted on beef tenderloin and sauteed snapper, was dessert from Beck’s Prime in the form of the eatery’s popular milkshakes. After bidding on various auction items and participating in the gift card raffle, guests danced to the tunes of Houston’s Klockwork Band.
Beck’s special connection was made apparent at night’s end as guests departed with oak tree seedlings grown from acorns from the historic, 400-year-old live oaks that shade Beck’s Prime at Westheimer and Augusta.
Tree huggers: Cathy and Joe Cleary, Andrea and John T. Young Jr., Reagan and Doug Bauer, Laura and Andrew McCullough, Gretchen and Andrew McFarland, Janet and Fred Heyne III, Eleanor and Dan Gilbane, Stephanie and Brad Tucker, Andrea and John T. Young Jr., Reagan and David Graham and Kathy and Bill Van Wie.
