Houston’s Hottest Young Professionals Heat Up a Chilly Scene, Make Brunch Beastly: This Zoo Flock Knows How to be Party Animals

What: “Beastly Brunch” for Houston Zoo‘s Flock

PC Moment: The frosty winter weather on this day failed to chill the party spirits of more than 300 young professional fans of the Houston Zoo. Members of Flock turned out in their boots, coats and scarves for the Sunday midday repast. Warming the cockles of their hearts was a variety of beverages that included Bloody Marys compliments of Bloody Revolution and Deep Eddy vodka, brews from Saint Arnold and wine.

Adding a sweet note to the party, there were treats from Sprinkles Cupcakes and, despite the cold, ice cream from Fat Cat Creamery.

There was an added element as the Zoo’s education team and sea lion keepers, better known as the Back of the Bay team, provided information about choosing ocean-friendly seafood and how those choices can affect ocean life.

And what would a Zoo party be without the playful Ambassador Animals? Flock members had up-close-and-personal moments with dingoes, a porcupine and parrot. DJ spins provided background sounds, a photo booth provided the memories and the silent auction gave guests even more opportunity to fill zoo coffers.

Proceeds from the event support the zoo’s animal care, education programs and wildlife conservation efforts.
