Always one of the most fashionable parties among millennials, the fifth annual A Couture Cause fête did not disappoint. More than 250 style savvy men and women filled the Houston party space at the new Big Brothers Big Sisters headquarters on Washington Avenue for introduction of the 2018 Trend Guide.
Twenty-one fashion mavens sporting au courant head-to-toe dressing from local retailers are featured in the colorful coffee table book, which was created with philanthropy as the underlying principle. Fashion bloggers Candace Thomas and Lyndsey Zorich, working with photographer Traci Ling, envisioned the book that showcases retailers’ top fashion picks worn by some of the city’s leading young ladies who are noted for their personal style and commitment to community service. It is, they say, “truly a labor of love.”
Ticket sales to the event, sales of the book (available here) and proceeds from the silent auction are 100 percent dedicated to A Shelter for Cancer Families and Youth Hope Association. Leading the effort that raised more than $75,000 were event chairs Neekie Kashani, Carrie Brandsberg-Dahl, Shannon Addison, Christine Falgout and Stephanie Fleck.
“When you turn the pages of this book, I want you to see these beautiful women who are bringing these fashions to light,” Thomas told the gathering. “Because these are the women that are really doing things in our city. They are spending their time and sharing their talent with truly meaningful organizations.”
Once the brief program concluded, guests continued grazing through a field of light bites and bidding on auction items before hitting the dance floor and boogieing to the sounds of DJ Ramalama.
