Houston Zoo Gala Breaks All Kinds of Records, Pulls in More Than $1 Million

PC Moment: Make that several major moments — highest ever monies raised (more than $1 million), highest attendance (600), and highest proceeds from “paddles up” ($187,955) at the ninth annual “Feed Your Wildlife Conservation Gala: Saving Rhinos.” As part of the zoo’s conservation focus, proceeds will go to the zoo’s partnership with three international foundations working to protect rhinoceros in Africa. Taking bows as honorees were former zoo director Rick Barongi and longtime zoo supporter Donald Kendall.
