Houstonian Hotel’s New Bar Opens With a Splash

PC Moment: After a bit of a dry spell, The Bar at The Houstonian welcomed more than 200 guests with a true unveiling. Hotel staff drew back the curtain on the new arched doorway entrance dressed in an amber glass installation and shining brass accents. Not only did guests open the bar and toast its renovation they signed up for wine lockers and had a sneak peek at the hotel’s new restaurant, Tribute.

While the eatery isn’t quite ready (it’s opening October 26), executive chef Neal Cox and his team were ready to display their talents by serving wood grilled ribeye with honey yeast rolls, crab au gratin, Texas wild boar empanadas, Medina County parisa (beef tartare) and decadent desserts from pastry chef Catherine Rodriguez. The Houstonian’s sommelier Vanessa Boyd showed guests around the wine lockers and the restaurant’s wine room while insuring that their thirsts were slaked with pourings of Pol Roger Champagne, Pence Chardonnay and Bergstrom Pinot Noir.
