Houston’s Ultimate 1960s Party
Surprises Are Guaranteed at the Alley’s Peace, Love and Rockin’ Ball
By Sharon L. Taylor //
Don your favorite rock ’n’ roll attire and set your calendar back to the 1960s for this year’s Alley Theatre Ball. Music from the iconic era and Richard Flowers’ rockin’ decor will set the mood for a decadent menu by Tony’s and lots of surprises.
The PaperCity-sponsored event, which honors Meredith Long and Roger Plank, has quite the cast — or Honorary Band, as the team has been dubbed. The chairmen (Lead Guitars) are: Oscar Brown and Sarah Morgan, Kevin Black and Tony Bradfield, Gracie and Bob Cavnar, Andrew Cordes and Brian Teichman, Janet Gurwitch and Ron Franklin, Shelby Hodge and Shafik Rifaat, Molly and Ford Hubbard, Mady and Ken Kades, Kathryn and Jim Ketelsen, Christopher Knapp, Carmen and Butch Mach, Soraya and Scott McClelland, Jerry and Melanie Martin, Dancie and Jim Ware, and Sheridan and John Eddie Williams. Joining them are the young professionals (Roadies): Sam Austin, Marc Eichenbaum, Julie Stephenson and Joel Glover, Carlos Meltzer, Sarah and Greg Nordin, Andy and Cody Schneider, Elizabeth and Benjamin Smith, and Amanda Zimmerman
All proceeds from the Ball benefit the Alley’s education and community engagement programs.
