Iconic Late Artist Toasted For His Striking Texas Billboards Project, and Then One Heck of a Holiday Party Breaks Out

Who: Proprietors Shannon Hall and Marcus Sloan; Artpace interim director Sue Graze and development director Francesca Rattray, in from San Antonio, where the nonprofit is based; Artpace Houston board members Cynthia Toles and Lisa Mount; ardent and stylish shoppers Tatiana Green, Kelly Crone, James Sivco, Rick Prindle, Natasha Pisarenko, Cathy Echols chatting with Phil Hudson, Karin Tennant, Brittany Zucker, and lovebirds Elizabeth Benton and Benjamin Omet; featured jewelry designer Mallary Marks, whose baubles are inspired by famous works of world architecture; artist Cruz Ortiz and wife Olivia (an Ortiz print was being sold during the evening to benefit Artpace); and Bubba McNeely and Greg Giacona providing the musical stylings.
PC Moment: Members of the art pack swooped in early to nab an important volume documenting Artpace’s sponsorship of the late artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres‘ poignant billboard series. Pictured in the book are 336 billboards statewide, a temporary project enacted in 2010 in culture capitals Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and Houston.
