PC Moment: This intimate lunch was all about the marriage of sustainability and luxury, and, from the hues of the various Birkins brought in by Christie’s to the botanical print on Amanda Hearst’s pajama-chic ensemble, green has never looked quite so good. While carrying a limited edition ostrich Kelly bag and wearing ethically sourced jewels doesn’t necessarily make one an activist, the existence of ethical luxury retailers like Maison de Mode makes it easy to make informed — and stylish — shopping decisions that support a more sustainable world.

The site, co-founded by Hearst and Hassan Pierre, offers a carefully curated selection of ready-to-wear, fine jewelry, home, and accessory lines that meet various sustainability criteria, like being made with recycled materials, crafted by artisans, or supporting local businesses. Not only has the online retailer shed light on brands that are committed to sustainable practices, it has introduced us to some of our favorite up-and-coming designers.
