Houston Power Couple Wins Major Philanthropy Award, Draws a Standing Ovation From Sellout Crowd: Honoring Houston’s Difference Makers

PC Moment: There’s nothing like a round of cheers and applause when receiving an honor. So it was that Phoebe and Bobby Tudor were welcomed to the stage with exuberant ovation as they received the prestigious Maurice Hirsch Award for Philanthropy at the annual luncheon hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
A sellout crowd of more than 1,000 gathered to celebrate the city’s multitude of philanthropic leaders with the presentation of 13 awards that included recognition of Sidney Faust as Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser, Tom Moore for Lifetime Achievement in Fundraising, Amy Ragan as Outstanding Fundraising Professional and Kristen Schlatre for Professional Advancement.
Also receiving kudos were Harvey’s Heroes: Boy Scout Troop 55, Heather Harrison, HomeAid Houston, the J.J. Watt Foundation (represented by Connie Watt), Diane Lee Kraitman and Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale.
The luncheon was chaired by Marilu Garza of The Center for Pursuit with Amy Lampi of Theater Under the Stars serving as co-chair and Margaret Alkek Williams as honorary chair.
