Despite the glam factor of the well-heeled crowd that packed the ballroom at the Post Oak Hotel on Friday, it was two pooches from K9 Angels Rescue that garnered most of the attention at Pet Set‘s “Fierce & Fabulous Soirée.” The white fluff-ball Einstein and the sleek ebony Esperanza ruled the selfie universe.
That was quite an accomplishment when one considers the dazzling swath cut by gala chairs Princess Tatiana Galitzine Sierra and identical twins Tama Lundquist and Tena Lundquist Faust, the powerhouse duo fueling the non-profit’s animal love energies.
Funds raised will be distributed to a covey of nonprofits dedicated to rescuing, neutering, protecting and adopting the city’s four-legged citizens.
Few are more dedicated to the welfare of animals than gala honorees Susan and Dan Boggio, who are also known for their service to a variety of humanitarian causes. Susan is board chair of UNICEF-USA southwest region, a board member of the BARC Foundation and of PACE Universal, a girl’s school in India. The couple has also been honored for their altruistic endeavors by Interfaith Ministries, Citizens for Animal Protection and Children’s Assessment Center.
With nine offices in the U.S. and one in China, Dan’s architecture firm, PBK, is helping build a children’s vocational center in Malawi and a community center in Rwanda.
Following the dinner and program, emceed by KHOU Channel 11 morning show host Deborah Duncan, Pet Set Young Professionals kicked the energy up a notch with an after-party in the ballroom foyer where DJ Senega spun the disks.
Who: Sue and Lester Smith, Sydney and Don Faust, Rachel and Jeff Bagwell, Jan Duncan, Gwen and Harris Courtney Judge Ed Emmett, Courtney Cohn Hopson, Neal Hamil, Joanne King Herring, Courtney and Bill Toomey, Frances Moody, Vivian Wise, Dr. Roland Maldonado, Tiffany Halik, Frank Billingsley and Kevin Gilliard, Marge Lundquist, Deborah Elias and Becky Cooke.
