Preppy Brand Makes its Dallas Debut Count at Design Darling’s New Store

Falling for Tuckernuck

When my friend Shelby Goff asked me to help welcome Tuckernuck and its co-founders Jocelyn Gailliot and September Rinnier Votta to Dallas, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

The brand, which is beloved for its collection of classic-preppy clothing and accessories — think Natucket-style Americana — has long had my heart. I have countless pieces from Tuckernuck in my closet; my favorite recent purchase being a floral summer dress designed by Emerson Fry and handmade in India.

When coming up with a venue for the trunk show, we were touched by a stroke of serendipity. Interior design darling Amy Berry was days away from opening her new namesake boutique, Amy Berry Home, on Oak Lawn.

Asked if she would host Tuckernuck’s multi-day trunk show and a welcome dinner for 40 of the city’s most stylish gals, Berry quickly said yes.

The day of the dinner — held the evening before the store’s grand opening — Berry was busy putting the finishing touches on her store, but held off on installing her full line of furniture and accessories. In place, she installed two long tables covered in blue-and-white tablecloths and china.

When the dinner hour rang, guests paraded in — thrilled to shop Tuckernuck’s summery wares and sneak a peek at Berry’s much-anticipated store.

Fueled by Whispering Angel rose and a multi-course meal by Cassandra Fine Catering, the girls in attendance stayed late, chatting all things fashion, design, and upcoming summer travel plans.

The next day I popped back in to Amy Berry Home for more shopping and to reconvene with Gailliot and Votta.

Let’s just say after the dinner and trunk show’s wild success, my bets are on Tuckernuck opening a permanent store in Dallas — and, in my opinion, it couldn’t happen soon enough.
