Valentino’s Rock Stud Jets in From New York For a Bit of Manhattan in Houston: Former Model Excels at Making the Chicest Men and Women Swoon

PC Moment: It was just too, too chic, darlings. What with dreamy Valentino brand ambassador Carlos Souza in from New York partnering with style icon Allison Sarofim, the native Houstonian taking on Manhattan, this artful evening was set to soar. Fresh from celebrating the opening of the new Valentino boutique in Dallas’ Highland Park Village, Souza, along with Sarofim, hosted a gathering of museum patrons and sophisticated fashionistas for a little bubbly, a bit of shopping and beaucoup high-level schmoozing.
The soirée was not without a certain altruism. Highlighting its philanthropic bent, the house of Valentino committed a percentage of Galleria boutique sales during a two-week period to the MFAH when the venerable museum is mentioned. That meant, of course, that Amy Purvis, MFAH’s chief development officer and a swan in her own right, joined the throng.
Making it a family affair, La Sarofim was joined by Houston-based sisters-in-law Courtney Sarofim and Mona Sarofim, niece Louisa Sarofim and Courtney’s mother, Elyse Lanier.
As would be expected, the sparkling boutique shelves were filled with pops of Valentino’s signature red from the newest versions of the iconic rock studded handbags and shoes to the swoon worthy spring colors and brightly embroidered frocks that hung beautifully on the racks.

Souza was a ripe 18 years old when he met Valentino while out and about in his native Brazil. The rest really is history as Souza went from modeling for the brand to becoming an editor at Harpers Bazaar and landing back to his home at Valentino running the firm’s public relations efforts. He travels the world mingling with the chicest of Valentino clad men and women.
