Imagine that after 15 years, Houston fashionistas have still not run out of fabulous clothes and accessories to contribute to the annual Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary “Reflections on Style” fundraiser. Just check out the offerings that remain following Tuesday’s luncheon and fashion show at River Oaks Country Club. Even after $650,000 worth of goods and tickets were sold, there remains beaucoup merchandise for the sale that continues through Saturday.

Yes, while the luncheon supporters scooped up the best of the best among the selection of gently and sometimes never-worn items, the Chic Boutique pop-up shop in Uptown Park (same location as last year) holds a treasure trove of must have fashions — clothes, shoes and accessories.

Always a colorful event, this 15th annual fashion extravaganza was once again a resource for Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Prada, Valentino fashions and more. So popular is the fundraiser for the Salvation Army that tickets sold out within 10 minutes. Lucky those who ponied up for premium tickets that allowed first dibs on the merchandise.

After early shopping, the ladies migrated to the ballroom where lunch was served and where Lenny Matuszewski and Tamara Klosz Bonar once again directed the catwalk presentation of the most alluring from the cache of donated fashions.

This year-long tour de force was helmed by event chair Darlene Clark with Leigh Newton Alvarez and Lynn Clayton heading the Chic Boutique and with a host of volunteers working many hours to organize the donated clothing and to assist during the sale.

The luncheon honored long-time auxiliary supporter Judi McGee and in a nod to her penchant for horses, the luncheon was themed “Prancing With a Purpose.” Continuing in that spirit, McGee harnessed one of her steeds to the grassy lawn in front of the country club, creating a playful equine welcome for the 450-plus guests.
