Transforming a luxe shopping mecca into a bustling, interactive arts scene might seem like a daunting task, but NorthPark Center — already a celebrated art hub — does it with ease. During its free ARTsPARK extravaganza Saturday, April 18, 1 to 5 pm, connoisseurs from organizations including the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Crow Collection of Asian Art, Dallas Summer Musicals and AT&T Performing Arts Center will dish details about can’t-miss membership, volunteer and participation opportunities. You can also stroll down Gallery Row, admiring for-sale artwork from Cydonia Gallery, Zhulong Gallery and Lab Art Texas, or get crafty during live demonstrations from The Southwestern Water Color Society, The Creative Arts Center and more. We’re particularly intrigued by hula-hoop weaving, but how-to’s in mosaics, oil painting, sand panting, glass-bead making and Spirograph art are also offered. ARTsPARK has been a collab between NorthPark and Dallas’ nonprofit Business Council for the Arts for six years —a means to generate buzz and form productive partnerships between the arts community and Dallas businesses.
