Karaoke Wonderland Roars Into Fort Worth — Private Singing Suites and Fancy Cocktails Await
Ready Or Not, Voicebox Karaoke is Coming
By Megan Ziots
For karaoke fanatics, a new singing lounge in Fort Worth is a dream come true.
Voicebox Karaoke is a bar and restaurant with private suite karaoke rooms, getting rid of the wait time that comes with singing at an ordinary bar. The 3,900-square-foot location will be coming to 2955 Crockett Street this fall.
Fort Worth will be the first Texas location of the Portland-based company. It’ll have eight private karaoke suites that can fit about a dozen people, as well as a public lounge area. Each suite has two TVs, microphones, and a cool sound and lighting system that conveys different “moods.” There are more than 71,000 songs, in 20 different languages, available to sing your heart out to.
Founder Scott Simon, a former hardware engineer in California, became inspired to open a Japanese-style karaoke lounge after visiting South Korea. He saw it as a way for humans to connect. After living in Portland and realizing that the karaoke scene needed an upgrade, he opened the first Voicebox in Northwest Portland.
Food ranges from sliders, pizza and dips to snacks like tots, popcorn and piglets in a blanket. Drinks, currently on the Portland menus, include traditional and unexpected sakes, beer, wine and signature cocktails. Voicebox Manhattan has old overholt, madeira, angostura and orange bitters. A Tokyo Mule includes crater lake ginger hand infused vodka, lime, fresh ginger and ginger ale. Hopefully these are all coming along with the Fort Worth location.
To show how recent songs can get, the website has a new songs category, with newer hits like “Sunflower” by Post Malone & Swae Lee, “Dancing With A Stranger” by Sam Smith & Normani, and “My Blood” by Twenty One Pilots. And unfortunately, the top song is currently “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X.
Suites are available for reservations for birthdays, team outings, bachelor/ette parties and “Sonic Youths” (kids under 21). Minors are allowed from Mondays through Thursdays before 9 pm and Fridays through Sundays before 7 pm.
