Austin’s Hottest Blogger Brings a Donut Museum to Town

You’ve Never Seen a Launch Quite Like This — Everyone in the Donut Pool!

BY // 08.17.18

Jane Ko, one of Austin’s top bloggers, is one of the most hardworking people I’ve gotten the chance to meet. Although her Instagram feed is flooded with picturesque images of the exciting locations Ko gets to visit, that doesn’t mean that she gets to take many days off.

She works a full schedule, often toiling late into the night to keep up with the demands of her uber popular blog and Instagram. Now, since Ko is never not scheming up something exciting, she is launching her own clothing line. Shop Koko will kick off with an event at The Refinery with the Donut Museum in downtown Austin.

That’s right, the Donut Museum.

“A Taste of Koko has been an online brand for eight years now and I was hungry to do something new,” Ko tells PaperCity.  “I love food tees and instead of buying them, why not make my own? To be honest, I originally just wanted to do an in-person T-shirt pickup but after talking to my designer, Dani Parsons, she said, ‘You have one chance to do a launch for Shop Koko and you need to make it big.’

“Thus, the Museum of Donuts was born in celebration of my first T-shirt, a donut boobie tee.”

Shop Koko is already up with three tees currently available. These include the aptly named donut boobie tee, the fries tee, and a queso tee, because is there anything that represents Austin better? Well, other than breakfast tacos to sop up that gooey queso.

Shop Koko will soon offer more T-shirts and home goods following the launch.

The Refinery, a co-working space aimed at millennial women, will host The Donut Museum on August 26. It will filled with insta-worthy interactive displays including a donut swing, a donut pool and a donut wall filled with Gourdough’s famous fried treats. But the donuts don’t just stop at Gourdough’s.

Fried rings from Bougie’s Donuts, Hank’s, Master Donuts, Little Lucy’s, and Caroline will provide lucky attendees with a comprehensive education on Austin’s best donuts. Everyone will also get a free Shop Koko donut tee.

As for what Jane Ko hopes visitors get out of the experience, other than a sugar rush and photos to flood their Instagram feed?

“I really just want guests to have fun and eat donuts!” she says. “We want Museum of Donuts to be the ultimate sugary experience celebrating our favorite pastry, the donut. Let your inner kid come out and go nuts in the donut pool.”

The Donut Museum quickly sold out, but thanks to the high demand, Ko and The Refinery are opening up new spots for the event.
