Revered Designer Jumps into Perfume
Tantalizing New Scent Available at Only One Store
By Linden Wilson Jobe //
In his first foray into women’s fragrance, designer Azzedine Alaïa launches Alaïa Paris this month —a scent with floral top notes (think freesia and peonies) and a musky base. Available exclusively online and in-store at Saks Fifth Avenue, the eau de parfum was created in Paris and inspired by Alaïa’s native Tunisia, particularly the sensation created by cold water falling on hot chalk.
The weighty black glass bottle features a spool-like gold cap crafted of zamak and pink gold. The fragrance is available in three editions: 1.6 ounces ($115), 3.3 ounces ($150) and — if you’re particularly obsessed — a giant 33 ounces for $2,500. The scent is also infused into a luxurious shower gel ($50) and body lotion ($55).
