The sun is out and, for many, the weekend forecast is filled with patios, bike rides, and long walks on the trail. Others say sunshine is for the weak — there is shopping to be done. Read on for insider intel on two major Dallas sales happening this weekend.
The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary WEARhouse Sale
The doors of The Salvation Army’s Christmas and Disaster Center will open this Friday, May 11 at 10 am — and we suggest being there when they do. Two days out of the year, the annual WEARhouse Sale, hosted by The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, offers the chance to score seriously discounted items donated by retailers like Forty Five Ten, Neiman Marcus, Tootsie’s, Stanley Korshak, and more.
If that weren’t enough, well-dressed supporters of the cause have generously donated gently worn and never-worn clothing and accessories with labels like Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, and Tory Burch. Expect everything from vintage treasures in pristine condition to handbags from this season, never even taken out of the box.
All of the proceeds benefit programs and services throughout the Metroplex provided by The Salvation Army, with a large percentage serving children and youth who find themselves in one of the organization’s after-school programs, summer day camps, or shelters.
The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary WEARhouse sale will be open to the public on Friday, May 11 between 10 am and 6:30 pm, and Saturday, May 12 between 10 am and 3 pm. The location is The Salvation Army’s Christmas and Disaster Center, 9216 Harry Hines.
Decades Trunk Show at Vintage Martini
Style setter and go-to for all things vintage Cameron Silver will be in town hosting a trunk show of hand-selected goodies from his iconic Hollywood vintage store, Decades.
The sale, held at local treasure trove Vintage Martini, will feature hard-to-find items chosen specifically for Dallas — and they are not available on the Decades website. Among such prizes are Chanel denim, coveted pieces by Stefano Pilati for YSL, and select Hermès accessories.
With Silver, an expert fashion historian, on hand to share each item’s unique history and provenance, this will be a vintage shopping opportunity one won’t want to miss.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit The Fashion Group International of Dallas.
The trunk show will be held Friday, May 11 between 2 pm and 6 pm and Saturday, May 12, between 11 am and 5 pm. Vintage Martini is located at 2923 N. Henderson Avenue, Suite A.
