Dallas Gets a Hot New Designer Sneakers Store
West Village Pop-Up Aims to Remove the Stigma Around Preowned Shoes
By Natalie Gempel //
Calling all sneakerheads! Buying the season’s hottest kicks once meant waiting in insanely long lines – but a new pop-up shop in Dallas is changing that. ShoePlug is an upscale marketplace where the streetwear-obsessed can buy and sell shoes, clothing and accessories which usually sell out online within minutes.
The store carries rare items from brands like Yeezy, Supreme x Louis Vuitton, Off-White x Nike, Fenty Puma and more.
Founded by University of Oklahoma undergrad student and native Dallasite Brennen Pailet, ShoePlug aims to clear the grey area and negative association with the secondary market of sneakers. The store’s pre-owned items go through an authentication process and come with a buyer protection guarantee.
“In the past the secondary or resale market has been kind of looked down upon,” Pailet says.
He calls the store a “mixed retail experience” and hopes to open accounts with major brands moving forward, so that ShoePlug can sell both pre-owned sneakers and new clothing and accessories. The entrepreneur wants to create an upscale boutique environment in ShoePlug, similar to streetwear store Kith in New York City.
The Dallas-based business is having its first retail pop-up in the West Village from December 27 to 31 and January 4 to 6.
To bring even more hype to the pop-up shop, ShoePlug is teaming up with another undergrad entrepreneur in West Village. From December 27 to 31, purchase any pair of kicks at ShoePlug and you’ll receive a complimentary signature poke bowl next door at Pok the Raw Bar.
