Dallas’ Ultimate Thrift Shop
Top Designers Come Together to Sell High-End Goods for a Cause
By Rebecca Sherman //
Thrift Studio‘s pop-up opened to the public on Friday, April 8, after a successful fund-raising preview party the night before. Within the first three hours, the charity sold more than $130,000 worth of donated designer furniture, accessories and lighting from its nine shoppable vignettes. And it all goes for a good cause — Dwell with Dignity’s mission to help families escape poverty and homelessness through design.
While roughly a third of the high-end merchandise sold on the first evening, new stock is being brought in daily to replenish, assures Kim Turner, Dwell vice president. The pop-up will run throughout the month of April.
Look for stylish vignettes created by such top designers as Amy Berry, Margaret Chambers, Rob Dailey, Steven Dunn, Shay Geyer, Emily Larkin, Pam Kelley, Brant McFarlain, Shelly Rosenberg, Tiffany Taylor and Flann Harris.
Designers teamed up with a raft of high-profile showrooms, including Benson Cobb, Brendan Bass, Duralee, Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman + Thibaut, Farrow & Ball, Jean de Merry, Kravet, IBB Design Fine Furnishings, Loloi Rugs, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Peacock Alley, Robert Allen and Schumacher.
It’s no wonder this year’s Thrift Studio launch is off to such a fab start, considering that Preview Party co-chairs are sisters Rachel Hutchinson, Tess Hutchinson Merriman and Holly Hutchinson, who helped pack the place with a crowd of design-obsessed bright young things, plus the city’s elite design powerhouses. Open free to the public Friday, April 8 through Saturday, May 7, 10 am to 5:30 pm, 1444 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 545.
