Mary Kay’s First Dallas Mansion Hits the Market: It’s Not Pink, But It’s Still Sprawling — and Memorable
By Natalie Gempel //
Before Mary Kay Ash settled into her famous pink mansion in Old Preston Hollow, the makeup mogul had another dreamy estate in the area. The first Dallas home of Mary Kay and Mel Ash just hit the market – and though it’s not in Mary Kay’s signature hue, it’s still quite memorable.
Built by modernist architect Frank L. Meier in 1969, the single-story, 4,500-square-foot home has a unique circular shape and incredible surroundings. The sprawling Preston Hollow property includes a private lake (regularly stocked with bass for resident fishermen) and lush, resort-worthy landscaping.
The home was given a facelift in 2007, but it still gives off strong retro vibes. It has a stone exterior and a stately, covered entrance. A dramatic, 30-foot diameter glass dome rises from the center of the round home and lends a space-age look.
The large skylight pours sunlight into the home’s central entertaining area, and is punctuated by an imaginative chandelier. The space leads into another large living area towards the back of the home, with a natural stone wall and a modern fireplace. The rear of the home is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows, giving gorgeous views of the backyard and Windsor Lake.
The house has three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths – a huge master bedroom suite, and two other bedrooms with a shared bathroom. An additional fourth bedroom and full third bathroom can be found in the property’s guest quarters.
However, the real reason to love 7246 Lupton Circle is outside. The home is steps from the idyllic lake, with a waterfront patio for leisurely afternoons and enough room to build a dock (piers, boathouses and electric motor cruising are common). To sweeten the deal, there’s also a circular pool in the backyard.
