Houston’s Hottest Young Professionals Let Loose for a Wild Hollywood Night
And It’s a Big Win for the Flooded Alley

What: Scene, the Alley Theatre Young Supporters third annual Opening Act party
Where: Life HTX in Montrose
PC Moment: With the theater in the midst of flood recovery, the party had to be relocated. Monsour Taghdisi to the rescue as he offered the sleek event space gratis in support of the Alley’s efforts. That was good news for chairs Kathleen and Scotty Reynolds, who were hoping for a good turnout at the vintage Hollywood themed evening. No worries there. Flood weary young professionals turned out to the tune of 250, many in costuming that channeled their fave Hollywood icons.
Think Audrey Hepburn, Cleopatra, Gene Kelly, and Elizabeth Taylor. Try to envision that scene as DJ Senega spun the tunes.
The advantage of partying at Life HTX is the state-of-the-art video capabilities which on this night allowed projected images from famous films — Gone With the Wind, Ben Hur, Cleopatra, etc. — and sad projections of the Alley flooding. Alley artistic director Gregory Boyd added a temporary poignant note to the evening, briefly speaking on the challenges to both the city and the theater.
In a playful mood, Underbelly presented a host of creative offerings such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s mini butter biscuits with shaved ham, Lawrence of Arabia Bombay bites and the Marlon Brando Dessert Station, which included mini cinnamon buns paired with bourbon icing Brandy Alexander milkshakes.
Who: Amanda and Marc Eichenbaum, Holly and Brian Waters, Maneesh Singal, Julie and Reid Wade, Blair and Barry Kessler, Katherine and Dillon Wilcox, Karen Man, Drew and Eliza Reinking, Kelly and David Leonard, Candice Mitchum, and Trey McDonald.
