Beyond Wild Jet Setters Party Sees Paris Hilton and Blaine Trump Play Goddesses
and a Houston Power Couple Jumps Right In:

Interrupting Texas’ summer social doldrums, we turn our attention to Mykonos where jet setting sojourners from across the globe recently landed for a birthday bash that could rival last summer’s Liaisons au Louvre fête reigned over by Houston’s Becca Cason Thrash. In fact, we discovered via Instagram that La Becca and husband John Thrash were among the wildly costumed coterie that joined New York City uber party planner Bronson van Wyck for his 45th birthday celebration.
We tracked down Cason Thrash in Athens a few days after Saturday’s blow-out-the-candles bacchanal and quizzed her on the party that already has more than 2,000 posts on Instagram.
“I’ve been to a lot of parties in my life, safe to say, some of the best,” she emailed. “But this was one of the most creative, lavish, authentic and FUN evenings I’ve ever experienced “
And who would have expected anything less from the party planner who counts Beyoncé, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and three U.S. presidents among his clients.
Van Wyck themed his affair a “Homeric Ball” and such was the command for appropriate costumes that no one dared show up in street clothes. That is other than Steve Schwarzman, Blackstone Group CEO, who though wearing a suit was channeling Aristotle Onassis.
“No one dared to disappoint the birthday boy,” Cason Thrash emailed.
While the fun and games spread over three days, it was Saturday night’s costume party that was the high point. Van Wyck’s staff worked for weeks transforming a Doric temple ruin into a multi-level, open-air party palace. It was so convincing that surely there was a sprinkling of authentic Greek gods strolling the multi-level party site.
Blaine Trump stepped in as the goddess Hygeia while Paris Hilton played Aphrodite and British model Yasmine Le Bon (wife of Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon) released her in inner Athena.
As Cason Thrash noted, there were “gladiators, gods and goddesses, emperors, Herculeses, Helen of Troys, Alexander the Greats, slave girls and boys, and angels. John Thrash dressed as an ancient Greek scholar while Becca gave it her best shot at Helen of Troy complete with long golden locks, courtesy of her pal Juicy Couture co-founder Gela Nash-Taylor, wife of Duran Duran’s John Taylor.
The legendary Duran Duran talent was the surprise entertainment of the night, their set following a beyond amazing feeding/drinking frenzy that featured a gazillion selfies and “almost indescribable lavish Greek buffet tables replete with every known Greek delicacy.”
The after-party which went on until sunrise, literally, starred rapper Flo Rida. The party wimps headed beddy-bye around 4:30 am.
