Who: Chairmen Hasti Taghi and Rosie Murphy; Boy and Girl of the Year Luca Campana and Dana Stavinoha, both acute lymphoblastic leukemia survivors and the faces of the Man & Woman of the Year campaign; Woman of the Year Stephanie Sanders, who raised $123,000; Man of the Year John Hite, who raised $75,000; emcee Dana Tyson; Sharon and Falco Campana, Jan and Doug Stavinoha; Leukemia & Lymphoma Society executive director Billie Sue Parris; past Man of the Year Nick Stefanakis.
PC Moment: More than 500 altruistic supporters attended the annual gala, where the top fund-raisers of an annual 10-week campaign are applauded. Vaunted leukemia researcher Dr. Michael Keating and board of directors member Sam Governale both gave moving speeches.
