Menil Contemporaries Party // Pratham Houston Luncheon // ROCO Yuletide Concert
By Anne Lee Phillips //
Young art-loving professionals previewed Love + Squalor, the bar inside midtown’s new restaurant Weights + Measures at the Menil Collection Contemporaries holiday party. Special cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, including Jamaican rum punch and Roman-style pizzas, were prepared exclusively for the group of aesthetes.
Sophisticated supporters of Pratham Houston enjoyed a fashion show from Chloe Dao and an inspiring speech from Empowering a Billion Women by 2020’s Ingrid Vanderveldt at their annual luncheon. Co-chaired by Asha Dhume and Annu Naik, the event, held at the Junior League, raised more than $150,000 for the Beauty Entrepreneurship Program.
It was a melodious Monday for 175 River Oaks Chamber Orchestra devotees at the 6th annual Yuletide Concert. Guests ventured inside Bayou Bend to behold the decked halls of Ima Hogg’s grand mansion. ROCO’s Brass Quintent revitalized traditional carols for guests, who sipped on champagne, cider and coffee in the tent overlooking the Diana Gardens. Making for a joyous event, ROCO’s musicians shared stories and engaged the audience — an interactive performance of “Sleigh Ride” had everyone smiling.
