What: Virtuosi of Houston Opening Night Concert
Where: Zilkha Hall, The Hobby Center
PC Moment: The sold-out concert, featuring more than 50 young musicians ages 11-18, featured guest conductor and major underwriter, Monzer Hourani conducting Handel’s Suite from Music for the Royal Fireworks. Conductors Andrzej Grabiec and Franz Anton Krager led the orchestra in excerpts from The Planets by Gustav Holst, the coronation march Crown Imperial, and The London Suite. The evening ended with an on stage buffet dinner, catered by Tony’s, celebrating the talented young musicians who are scheduled to travel to London in March to study and perform at the University of Chichester School of Music.
