What: The Woman’s Hospital of Texas 14th annual Labor Day Luncheon and Style Show

Where: The Royal Sonesta Hotel

PC Moment: The day delivered a combination of sober message and joyful fashion, the first the role that the Woman’s Hospital of Texas plays in supporting healthy baby initiatives and the second a Todd Ramos and Natalie King presentation of the trending styles for fall. And let’s not forgot the mid-morning pop-up shopping opportunity with almost 20 boutiques and vendors offering their stylish wares.

The importance of the hospital and the March of Dimes, beneficiary of the fundraiser, was brought home by guest speakers Laurie and Benjamin Foster, whose twin sons were born prematurely and cared for in the NICU (neo-natal intensive care unit) at the Woman’s Hospital. The couple found solace and emotional aid the hospital’s NICU Family Support Program. As is tradition, hospital CEO Ashley McClellan co-chaired the event with one of the city’s leading ladies, this year, Karina Barbieri.

“The decades-long partnership between The Woman’s Hospital and the March of Dimes has proven to make a tremendous impact in the lives of so many, just like the Fosters,” said McClellan. “We’re honored to support the March of Dimes’ incredible advocacy for babies born prematurely and their families. This event is a reminder of the true impact that we can have on the community when we come together.”

Who: March of Dimes Houston executive director Darcie Wells, emcee Samica Knight, Lindley Arnoldy, Ishwaria Subbiah, Staci Henderson, Dr. Michelle Fennick, Crystal Madnett, Mandy Kao, Ruchi Mukerjee, Carlos Barbieri, Kara Hawthorn, Marcia Stevens, Alison Stevens, Kemah Blair, Brayda Blair, Julissa Duran, and Soleil Rucker.
