The Perot Museum of Nature and Science's Night at the Museum Gala is this Saturday — and the food is going to rock
It’s almost one of our favorite nights of the year — the Perot Museum of Nature and Science’s Night at the Museum Gala.
Before you assume it is because the event offers the opportunity to realize your childhood dreams of exploring a science museum after-hours (it does), or that the interactive play-and-party stations are seriously Instagram-worthy (they are), or that the evening is the biggest annual fundraiser for the museum and its innovative educational programs (it is) — OK, it’s definitely for all of those reasons — but also, it is an incredible night for food.
Cuisine for the gala is provided by none other than celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, whose catering company is cooking up some creative (and crazy delicious) concoctions for this Saturday’s event.
To fit with this year’s theme, Rock the Perot, yuzu ice cream pops with Pop Rocks, edible geodes, and other wild creations will take the menu to another level. If you are one to appreciate details, take note of the selection of rocky soil wines at the bar.
Guests can also expect to enjoy rock lobster with sauce americaine, saffron croquette with paysanne winter roots, house smoked Coho salmon macaron with fine herb smear and chive blossoms, charcoal beef short rib with Okinawa potatoes and aromatic top vegetables, and plenty more.
That’s not all. Just like most of the museum’s exhibits, the dining experience will have plenty of interactive elements, like watching sound waves move through local grapefruit and lychee granite with baked meringue snow.
Edible art tables will offer opportunities to get creative, topping glasses of dehydrated citrus, fennel tuile, and petite winter greens with “table art,” like passion fruit gelee, nitrogen goat curd, and clementine and currant mostarda with winter blooms. Our best guess is that this is a really cool salad bar but we can’t wait to find out…
