Houston Fashion Favorite Embraces The North — Designer Amir Taghi Brings His New Collection to The Woodlands
A Personal Family Connection and a New Regular Stop

Fresh off New York Fashion Week, Houston designer Amir Taghi brought his latest collection to Pell 1990 at Market Street in The Woodlands, providing a first look at his fall and spring collections.
Amir Taghi is no stranger to Houstonians, but Pell 1990 owner Courtney Pell Wilkerson introduced the designer to a somewhat new audience in The Woodlands.

“Courtney and a really good family friend of mine have been friends forever, Taghi says. “We had Houston covered, but wanted to get into The Woodlands. We knew there was a client here as well, so it was perfect to connect with Courtney. She showed us a new clientele that we weren’t reaching in Houston.”
That family friend is Amerigo’s Grille restaurant managing partner Tina Kosh Goodson.
“From a very young age, Amir knew he wanted to be a fashion designer, so it’s been really special to watch his career and see how far he’s come,” Goodson tells PaperCity The Woodlands. “When Courtney mentioned she was looking for a designer, I immediately thought of Amir and connected the two. I’m so glad it worked out.”
A Tour That Begins in The Woodlands
The Woodlands was Amir Taghi’s first stop, but he isn’t headed home just yet. His trunk show tour continues in Palm Beach, Aspen, Los Angeles and other select markets.
While a trunk show gives shoppers the opportunity to see and try on Taghi’s designs, it’s not the only way to shop the collection. His brand is carried at Neiman Marcus stores, and is also available through his website.

“We’re a small fashion house,” Taghi says. “For our website the designs slowly drop every other week.”
Taghi has multiple seasons in the works at any time. “We work in a two track model,” he notes. “There are pieces you can take home, and we have in sizes, and then we have pre-order pieces. Those are things that maybe we’re not going to order stock in, but you’re going to be able to pre-order and have something that no one else has.”
For fall, the collection in-store now, Taghi leans into rich neutrals, with some surprises as well.
“We have a lot of chocolates and browns, and you’ll see a pop of the camel and pink tones,” he says. “We also have a gorgeous burgundy mixed with ecru, and a pop of teal. For spring, you’ll see a lot of plums, burgundies, green tones and pale yellows.
And if his first visit to The Woodlands is any indication, Amir Taghi won’t be a one-time guest. Local fashion lovers should get to see him back in the spring with the designer planning a return already.
