Iconic Max Mara Exhibit Barks Into Houston With Serious Art Clout
By Francine Ballard //
Man’s best friend figures prominently with Max Mara this fall as the brand revisits its 50th anniversary photography series from William Wegman: “Dogs in Coats.” Wegman’s Weimaraners, Man Ray and Fay Ray, are held in high esteem by art collectors; their images are in permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, among others.
First commissioned in 2001, the exhibit is a nod to Max Mara‘s iconic 101801 cashmere coat. This fall, 30 limited-edition coats (as seen on Wegman’s infamous pups) will be produced to coincide with a 10-city tour of the original exhibit, which will stop in Houston on Wednesday, November 18.
