Australian Fashion Power Opens in River Oaks District With Flirty Fashions and Zodiac Designs — Zimmermann is Here

Fashion shopping online is, of course, convenient but little can beat the in-the-store, hands-on, trying-on experience. You can feel the fabrics and see exactly how a particular cut will fit without all the shipping back and forth. Thus, we celebrate the arrival of iconic Australian fashion house Zimmermann in River Oaks District.

Yes, Zimmermann is available in numerous stores across the country but the complete selection of frothy, feminine and fierce fashion is now at Houston shoppers’ fingertips.

The celeb-loved brand entered the Texas market in 2020 with a boutique in Dallas’ NorthPark Center. As of this past Saturday, shopping through Zimmermann’s lavishly detailed frocks, shorts, swingy skirts, signature swimwear and more has become a Houston thing. The boutique includes a selection of Zimmermann accessories ranging from sunglasses to sandals, rose gold-plated jewelry and hats.

A special selection of children’s clothes, designed to match mommy’s, is also offered for ages zero through 10.

Creative director Nicky Zimmermann, who founded the line with her sister Simone Zimmermann in Sydney, Australia in 1991, shared a few observations on opening the Houston shop.

“So many women from Houston have shopped with us in our other stores, and when the opportunity to open at River Oaks District came along, the timing just felt right,” she noted. “I think the Houston woman likes to have fun dressing and has an eye for the unexpected, which is very much at the heart of our brand.

“There is no better way to immerse someone in the world of Zimmermann than to have them step into one of our stores. They are just such an embodiment of the brand, so we are really excited to welcome people and hope they have a unique and enjoyable experience.”

Zimmermann’s new River Oaks District boutique is a bright and airy niche that features an eclectic mix of Australian artwork but the showpiece of the design is the vintage arched interior doorway of glass panels that the boutique designer found at auction. Its twin doorway graces the Zimmermann boutique in Cannes.

While the boutique is currently stocked to the brim with spring and summer fashions, the fall collection will be arriving in Zimmermann stores at the end of July.

“For our Fall 22 collection,” Zimmermann tells PaperCity, “I was inspired by the fun side of Astrology, the idea that our personalities are influenced by our birth signs has always been intriguing to me. I was exploring this theme for the collection, and I came across these beautiful Zodiac-inspired illustrations by Anita Inverarity which I was instantly drawn to. They were mystical, and I loved the colors she used.

“We were fortunate to work with her to create 12 unique prints that represent each sign of the Zodiac. We’ve incorporated the symbols and icons of the zodiac in our detailing and finishes and there’s a conscious clash of fabrics and prints in each look.

“It’s very textural and eclectic with a kaleidoscope of colors.”
