Dallas’ Coolest Dessert Shops — The Best Ice Cream, Chocolate Splurges and Pops: Your Frozen Treats Guide

BY // 08.09.18

While Bruno Mars and Cardi B are drippin’ in Finesse this summer, Texans are dripping — no, drenched rather — in sweat. Dallas transforms into an Easy Bake Oven every August, but luckily The Big D’s frozen treat scene will bring you some much-needed chill.

Here’s the scoop on six of the coolest treats in town. These are Dallas’ best frozen dessert shops:

Creamistry

Ditch the standard ice cream cone for made-to-order liquid nitrogen ice cream concoctions at Creamistry. Unlike regular ice cream, which is pumped and churned with air, the liquid nitrogen allows the ice cream to freeze together with no overrun (meaning there is virtually no air in the mixture, so you get the maximum amount of creamy goodness).

Plus, the orders look like a science experiment made by trained Creamologists.

Calling everyone who loves ice cream, but can’t eat it: this menu caters to all dietary restrictions with a vegan, dairy-free and organic menu. Dallas, Fort Worth and Frisco all have Creamistry shops, so you can get your fix no matter where you are in DFW metroplex.

7 Degrees Fahrenheit

Ice cream is on a roll at 7 Degrees Fahrenheit — literally. They pour the ice cream mixture with toppings onto a frozen plate, allow it to solidify, and roll it up in little sections.

With vanilla, green tea, chocolate, mango, coffee and strawberry bases and dozens of toppings the possibilities are endless. And the final product that looks like a bouquet of ice cream makes for the ideal Instagram shot. Head to Carrollton to curb your Instagram and sugar cravings.

Sablon Chocolate Lounge

Definitely the most decadent spot on the list, Sablon Chocolate Lounge really is all about chocolate. The sit-down chocolate shop features sundaes piled high with chocolate brownies, fudge sauce and vanilla ice cream, classic waffles topped with ice cream and chocolates, and Grand Chocshakes overflowing with toppings and chocolate sauce.

Need a little caffeine boost? Try Chocolate Belgian Frappes. Plus, Sablon’s Uptown Dallas location offers plenty of air-conditioned shopping and movie theaters nearby.

Snowbaby

In the midst of summer, winter can’t come fast enough. At Snowbaby, they bring the winter chills to you with one bite of flavored ice. The finely shaved, snowflake-like ice comes in several flavors, like strawberry, chocolate, vanilla bean and coconut. It’s then topped with fruit and crunchy or sweet toppings of your choice. Adding a chocolate or milk drizzle completes the one-of-a-kind taste.

It’s gluten-free and a healthier alternative to many other frozen desserts. Located in Lakewood, Snowbaby can help you cool off enough to maybe walk down the street to the Dallas Arboretum for August Dollar Days ($2 admission, $5 parking).

There’s a fun weekend date idea.

Cow Tipping Creamery

Stop reading this and head to Cow Tipping Creamery right now. Seriously, go. This is certainly one of Dallas’ best ice cream shops, with pillow-like soft serve spirals covered in decadent toppings and drizzled with sweet sauces.

They even put chunks of cookie dough, brownie bites, or other toppings of your choice in the bottom and on the top. You can taste the goods in every bite. Genius!

The location at the Star in Frisco allows you to make a day out of this ice cream stop. The new Dallas Cowboys HQ features an outdoor small football field to play on, a plethora of restaurants, Cowboys trivia and memorabilia, and family-fun exploring. It’s worth the trip.

Berry Naked

Bored of your friends suggesting Steel City Pops for a cool-down treat? Try Berry Naked, which changes flavors regularly to reflect seasonal ingredients – or just to experiment.

Berry Naked pops have no preservatives, artificial sugars, color dyes, processed ingredients or fillers. These frozen treats are true to their name – au naturel. The menu boasts gourmet pops (that can be dipped in chocolate), acai bowls and “sinful bowls” (like sundaes sans ice cream).

These guilt-free desserts are yummy and convenient with multiple locations. Try the Legacy West Food Hall location to spice up your summer. The hall provides a fun atmosphere, live music, a humongous outdoor TV screen in the box garden, open-air seating, brewery tours and tons of food vendors.

These six are fighting champions that will beat the Texas heat wave. Check out PaperCity’s list of last summer’s best frozen treats for some more refreshing and creative ways to stay cool.
