When COVID-19 quashed restaurateur Ben Berg’s plans in 2020 for an ongoing Sunday night Supper Club at The Annie Café & Bar, there was disappointment all around. Not only from Berg and maestro Richard Brown but also from those who love the idea of a fab dinner and show in the chic surroundings of The Annie. Today, no more singing the blues. The supper club is back.
Dinner and a show resumes at The Annie this Sunday with a Motown review, a personal favorite of this girl from Louisiana. Sounds of The Four Tops, The Temptations, Martha and the Vandellas, perhaps Marvin Gaye, could be on the playlist when the Richard Brown Band featuring Kelley Peters and Bob Luna gets the show rolling.
Icing on the dinner show cake is the participation of special guests Shawn Sounds from The Voice and from America’s Got Talent powerhouse vocalist Christina Wells. Singing along and perhaps dancing in the aisles is welcome.
Following the inaugural supper club evening in January of 2020, Brown told PaperCity, “ I’m so excited to be working with Ben Berg to create this exciting new opportunity for Houston. It will be a throwback to the days of The Shamrock, The Copacabana and The Latin Casino. A fun entertaining show and a great meal.”
Shortly thereafter, with COVID shutdowns, the delightful super club evenings were put on ice.
Of course, The Annie is noted for its remarkable cuisine from the talented hands of executive chef Robert Del Grande and chef de cuisine Jose Valencia. Those joining this dinner and a show will be treated to a three-course dinner by these talented toques.
Tickets are $195 per person. Tax, gratuity and beverages are in addition to that ticket price. Reservations are required.
The supper club motif continues in November and December with the Sunday November 7 dinner themed Disco Inferno and the December 5 themed a Christmas Spectacular.
Reservations for all three nights can be made here or by calling 713-804-1800.
