A new quick-serve roast beef sandwich shop is opening in East Dallas this Saturday, August 3. California-based roast beef haven Top Round previously had a short stint at the sometimes troubled Toyota Music Factory, lasting a year before ultimately shuttering in March.
The new Dallas area Top Round will be at 4800 Byran Street and owned and operated by Jason Napolitan.
Founded in Los Angeles in 2013, Top Round currently has three locations in California (Los Angeles, San Francisco and Irvine). This will be the restaurant’s first, well technically second, Texas debut. Sharing a patio with Khao Noodle Shop, the 2,800 square foot restaurant will have a new design, two patios, an indoor/outdoor full bar and a to-go window.
“I eagerly took the lead on the design process, staying true to the original retro-forward inspiration and adapting it to our neighborhood’s aesthetic,” Napolitan says. “It is very important to us, in each location across the country, to embrace and elevate the spirit of our communities.
The patio is spacious and will feature live music, happy hours and six large screen TVs for communal sports watching. And on the other side of the building, an outdoor To-Go Lounge will have additional seating and a walk-up window for easy ordering and pick up.
All Top Round’s roast beef and chicken sandwiches will be all-natural and free of additives and preservatives. Standouts on the menu include Horse & Hole with slow cooked roast beef, roasted mushrooms, horseradish cream, Provel cheese and a sesame bun, and the Wizz Burger with house-made cheese “wizz”, caramelized onions, chef sauce, lettuce and tomato.
As for chicken sandwiches, a popular choice is the Buffalo Chicken with lettuce, tomato, ranch and buffalo sauce. Napolitan has also expanded the Dallas location’s menu to include vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Buffalo Cauliflower, a Veggie Cali salad, and a Kale Slaw Salad also will be available.
Dirty fries, which are curly fries with gravy, Provel cheese, caramelized onions and Round Sauce, and Cheese Tots covered in house-made cheese wizz will be on the sides menu. And for dessert, you’ve got ice cream custards that use products from Santa Clarita, California. Popular choices include Banana Cream Pie, Turtle and Pretzel PB Crunch.
For the cocktail menu, Napolitan added familiar drinks with twists, such as the Frozen Whiskey Coke made with Wild Turkey Longbranch Whiskey, Matthew McConaughey‘s brand. There will also be local draft beer, canned beers and wine.
Top Round Dallas will be open daily from 11 am to 12 am.
