One Crafty Party: Mexican Barbecue, Western Duds and a Raffle to Remember Rule the Night

Who: Honorees Michelle and Frank Hevrdejs; Houston Center for Contemporary Craft executive director Perry Price with wife Rosemary Price and deputy director Mary Headrick; HCCC board president Edward Lane McCartney and David Gooding; and supporters including jeweler Sandie Zilker, Victoria Lightman with Rob Greenstein, Phyllis Childress, Leslie and Brad Bucher, Judy Nyquist, and Karina and Carlos Barbieri.

PC Moment: The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft hosted its first-ever CraftTexas Roundup fundraiser. Attendees were invited to break out their best Western-inspired garb and enjoy an evening of craftsmanship. Guests moseyed down to a beautiful outdoor tent filled with Mexican-style BBQ by El Burro and The Bull, libations, and, of course, craft exhibitions from all parts of this great state.

Raku ceramics were fired up by Jeff Forster and Terry Hagiwara. In another area, David Medina demonstrated a spectacular bronze pour. For the raffle, guests had a chance to win three prizes: four tickets (plus parking) to Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, a wood carving titled “Bull Rider” by the talented Connie Roberts, and ceramic cacti margarita glasses made by Eileen Braun that are perfect for an evening of porch sitting. PaperCity served as media sponsor.
