Dallas’ Top Chefs Make this Green Party a Foodie Romp

Revamped Format Brings the Arts Back to the Lawn

What: TACA Lexus Party on the Green

Where: Sammons Park at the AT&T Performing Arts Center

PC Moment: TACA is having a rather big year — celebrating 50 years of providing much-needed support to a plethora of performing-arts organizations large and small, all over Dallas. With Wanda Gierhart leading the charge for the golden anniversary, there are big plans in store. The first was changing up its beloved Party on the Green a tad, with a switch in location and a stronger emphasis on the arts.

So, the event was moved from the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek to Sammons Park at AT&T Performing Arts Center. (Fret not, what we loved most about Party on the Green — roaming and noshing our way through dozens of culinary stations, helmed by our city’s top chefs — was still in tact.) And throughout the eve, various artists from the likes of Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, Shakespeare Dallas, and Dallas Black Dance Theatre staged pop-up performances.

As for our favorite dishes, highlights came from the following: Dean Fearing, a Party on the Green regular (his band used to play at the event back in the day), who prepared carnita street tacos during the VIP hour; Knife’s John Tesar, whose bad-boy personality and divine King Crab with garlic were high points; Wolfgang Puck Catering’s Drew Swanson, who served a scrumptious beef bowl; Janice Provost of Parigi, who wore pink (per usual) and concocted basil panna cotta with pesto; and, of course, it wouldn’t be a banquet without dessert, which came in the form of a chocolate bar by way of Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek’s Nicolas Blouin.

Moveable Feasters: Party on the Green chairs Katherine Wynne and Tia Wynne; TACA president and executive director Wolford McCueDonna Wilhelm, Holly Reed, Jessica Johnson, Tjuanna Winters, Leldon and Gwen Echols, Gillian Breidenbach, Cathy Carr, Alfredo Flores, Mark and Laura Sullivan, Sunie Solomon, Lisa and Bill Ogle, Leah and Jim Pasant, Amy and Michael Meadows, Nanette and Tracy Fitz, and Jane McGarry.
