When securing the land for their luxury mid-rise Mandell Montrose, the clever trio behind the concept bought an adjacent bungalow, gave it a genteel facelift and reimagined it as a sophisticated sales center. With oversized renderings and floor plans in place, Mirador Group, Midtown/Uptown Development Partners and Sudhoff Companies opened the doors of the center for a launch party.
There was already buzz in the Montrose neighborhood as a billboard with an image of the high-end residential project had already gone up at the corner of Fairview and Commonwealth. Mirador Group architect Jerry Hooker explains that the eye-catching brick design echoes the work of modernist designers Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Walter Gropius.
Potential buyers, real estate agents and friends gathered to study the plans for the 24 units which boast indoor/outdoor fireplaces, 10- and 12-foot ceilings, custom manufactured Italian cabinetry, natural stone countertops and sheltered balconies.
Midtown/Uptown Development Partners’s Bill Krewson and Sudhoff executive vice president of sales Mike Reddell were among the execs on hand to discuss the project.
Adding an extra layer to the experience, the team put together a silent auction, including a modern kimono, with proceeds going to Art League Houston. This a nod to the Montrose neighborhood’s artistic and eclectic bent. In fact, the ALH home is practically within walking distance of the upcoming development.
While perusing the auction items and the Mandell Montrose plans, guests noshed on hors d’oeuvres from Aqui and sipped a variety of libations including Deep Eddy Vodka cocktails.
