In the fall of 2019, an illustrious group of women, including Aerin Lauder, Jessica Seinfeld, and SoulCycle co-founder Julie Rice, gathered to celebrate the launch of a buzzy new start-up from a former Vanity Fair events director, Texas-native Jessica Latham, and her longtime friend, entrepreneur Amy Griffin (who also happens to hail from the Lone Star State). Social Studies, regularly referred to as “the Rent the Runway of personal party planning,” features impeccably edited kits filled with everything you need to pull off a professional-looking tablescape. From a beachy “Sea Glass” theme and a South of France-inspired “Provence” to a magical setup for kids, each Social Studies kit comes with glassware, runners, candles, flatware, napkins, and more ranging from $22 to $52 per guest.

In Dallas, a similarly powerful group gathered on September 24 at members-only club Park House, where the patio was transformed in true Social Studies style. The early fall dinner was hosted by Latham with Richard Christiansen of Los Angeles’ Flamingo Estate, a former enclave of hedonism in the hills the entrepreneur has transformed into a successful garden that produces fresh produce, natural body products, honey, candles, tinctures, and as of April 2021, a Pink Moon rosé. The theme was, naturally, “The Pleasure Garden,” with a table was a true feast for all the senses.
Relive the event, which featured local appearances from guests like Taylor Tomasi Hill, Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, and Lizzie Means Duplantis of Miron Crosby.
