What: The Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s eighth annual Fashion Notes Design Award Luncheon and Style Show

Where: The Fairmont Dallas

PC Moment: From the little ones walking down the runway — in some cases toward the faces of their adoring grandparents — to Fashion Notes Designer Award recipient Nardos Imam’s gorgeous table, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s eighth annual Fashion Notes Design Award Luncheon and Style Show was truly a family affair.

Once guests took their seats inside the Fairmont Dallas, DSOL President Venise Stuart welcomed the well-heeled group and invited a round of applause to recognize honorary chair Jimmy Westcott, who also happens to be the mother-in-law of Kameron Westcott, co-chair of this year’s event alongside Samantha Wortley.

And the family ties don’t end there. As the fashion presentation kicked off, Tootsies Dallas store director Nerissa von Helpenstill walked down the runway with her daughter Stella. Tootsies, whose entirely remodeled storefront is set to reopen soon following extensive damage from last winter’s storm, supplied all of the adult fashions, while Jojo Mommy outfitted the tinier models. Jojo Mommy founder Kari Schlegel Kloewer’s children Tabitha, Tobin, and Teddy took their turn modeling with their cousin, Millie, Kimberly Schlegel Whitman’s daughter, and were followed by their aunt Krystal Schlegel Davis and her daughter Lake.

The highlight of the luncheon was the presentation of the Fashion Notes Designer Award to Dallas’s own incredibly talented Nardos Imam of Nardos Design, followed by a runway presentation of a dozen of her exquisite gowns. For the finale, Kameron Westcott walked hand-in-hand with Nardos’s children, Elyana and Christian Brook, in one of the designer’s showstopping confections.

A live auction, emceed by Scott Murray, and remarks by DSO Ross Perot President and CEO Kim Noltemy encouraged the crowd to raise additional funds for the DSO’s education and outreach programs, including DSO on the Go, Community Concerts and Performances, Cecil and Ida Green Youth Concerts, Symphony Yes!, DSO Kids, Young Strings, and Young Musicians.

Before guests made off with their goodie bags, which included dozens of treats, including pink frosted cookies from The Cookie Rack; colored pencils from Sissies Adventures author Marisa Howard; and snack bars by Taos Bakes, founded by Dallas native and Southern Methodist University alum Brooks Thostenson; they were treated to a special performance by cellist Brianna Sargent, an alumna of the DSO’s Young Strings program.
