‘Escape’ With Neiman Marcus’ Latest Immersive Pop-Up

Valentino's Travel-Inspired Collection Makes a Dallas Stop Before Heading Off to East Hampton

Neiman Marcus NorthPark loves a retail pop up. In the past year, they’ve created experiences around brands like Balmain and Prada, topping off those chic affairs with a party. Such was the case with the iconic store’s most recent pop-up: Valentino Escape 2022. That tucked-away corner adjacent cosmetics saw a crowd ready to whip out their Neimans card to score some items that might likely sell out before the collection leaves on July 4 and heads to East Hampton.

The scene was buzzing upon our arrival. The always stylish DJ Souljah was spinning while guests sipped a signature cocktail. Among the seen were Melinda Knowles (wearing Valentino) and Janie Condon, who joined us in perusing the colorful assortment of men’s and women’s clothes, handbags, women’s shoes, and accessories. The team at Neimans shared that they hope the “travel-inspired” Valentino Escape collection takes shoppers on an “unforgettable journey to exotic faraway destinations.”

The House of Valentino has long (well, ever since it’s beginning in 1960) been a go-to for the world’s most fashionable women and men. Now under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli, the line stays faithful to its heritage while exploring new moods and values. For the Escape collection, archival motifs from the 1960s and ’70s are reimagined and found on kaftans, swimsuits and bags.

A few favorites included a giraffe tote — the perfect accessory for a day at the pool of the Commodore Perry Estate in Austin or a day on the sands of Alys Beach — and a breezy kaftan in Valentino Wave (a multi-color print from their archives). I’m still thinking of snagging the uber cool black rubber Roman stud slides, an oversized, monochromatic take on Valentino’s famous rock stud.

Be sure to swing by Valentino Escape at Neiman Marcus in NorthPark Center before July 4, when the colorful pop-up hits the road to East Hampton.
